Some gifts are unforgettable — and this kitchen remodel was one of them. In early December, a husband contacted Mint Construction with a heartfelt plan: to surprise his wife with a kitchen renovation for Christmas. Together, we outlined a budget and timeline that allowed her to begin the design process in January, turning a thoughtful idea into a reality that would transform their daily space.
Maximizing Every Inch of Space
One of the main challenges in this kitchen was the lack of usable countertop space. The original layout included a built-in desk area near the kitchen that wasn’t being used efficiently. To solve this, our team converted that area into a stylish and functional coffee bar — the perfect way to add both charm and practicality. The new layout now provides extra room for everyday tasks and entertaining alike.
Style and Substance in Every Detail
To achieve the client’s vision within budget, we used a combination of carefully selected showroom products. The countertops feature the timeless beauty of Carrara Trigato, a stocked stone option known for its subtle veins and durability. For cabinetry, we installed KCD Shaker Sand cabinets to the majority of the kitchen, offering a warm, classic look that complements the light stone surfaces. We also installed Atelier Jacobs Shaker cabinets in Eucalyptus color to accent the main cabinetry with a complimentary style and color. Together, these finishes create a balanced, welcoming design that feels both modern and enduring
A Kitchen That Shines
Lighting played a big role in making this space truly special. We installed under-cabinet lighting, uplights above the crown, and even lights beneath the countertop overhang to create dimension and warmth. The homeowners opted to upgrade to RGB cabinet lighting, allowing them to change colors based on the occasion — from cozy evening tones to festive holiday hues. The kitchen not only meets their functional needs but also reflects their personality and joy in celebrating together.
